Referring to senior BJP and VHP leaders AK Advani, Dr MM Joshi, Ashok Singhal, Vinay Katiyar, Uma Bharati, Pramod Mahajan, Vishnu Hari Dalmia, Acharya Dharmendra deo, SC Dixit, Sadhvi Rithambhara and others who were then at the dais, Anju Gupta said they were all very happy when the mosque was being brought down.
They were celebrating and distributing sweets at the dais, Anju said and added they were embracing each other.
The IPS officer said when she saw kar sevaks falling from the mosque dome she told about it to Advani. She said Advani wanted to go to the spot but after consultations with two senior police officers who had accompanied Advani from Lucknow, he was asked not to go the spot for security reason.
Anju said she took Uma Bharati to spot but her car was stopped and later Bharati walked down to demolition site. Anju also said that leaders at the dais had been giving calls to kar sevaks not do “kar seva from top but from the ground”. She said leaders were instigating the kar sevaks from the dais. She said the first dome came down around 1.45 to 2.15 pm and by 4.30 pm third dome was demolished.
